Provider's data safety and data security strategiesCloud is hosted depending on the clients country from Europe (Netherlands and Irelands) or US (Ohio and North Virginia) data centers in High Availability installations. The hosting takes part in at least two geographically separated data centers. In this fully redundant infrastructure all data is replicated in real-time and archived on a third data base. Additionally, every 24 hours a full back-up of all data is stored in an encrypted vault in case of disaster recovery. eLabNext is ISO/IEC 27001:2013-certified and all servers are hosted from ISO 27001, SOCII, or ISEA 3201 compliant facilities. The system is protected by multiple firewalls, secure data transport using HTTPS encryption, regular security audits and preventive measures.
Reference usersFaculty of Medicine and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Cologne, contact: Stefan Schwenke, stefan.schwenke@uni-koeln.de, description: eLabJournal was launched in 2019 as a joint project between the two faculties. For data protection reasons, a cloud solution was rejected and the system was installed on premise on the local servers in the university's computer centre. As of December 2022, 691 researchers use the system. The users are distributed among 28 working groups of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Biology and Biochemistry and 45 working groups of the Faculty of Medicine.
CECAD (cluster of excellence Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-Associated Diseases) at University of Cologne, Institute for Genetics, contact: Laurens Wachsmuth, l.wachsmuth@uni-koeln.de, description: eLabJournal is used as a replacement for the paper lab notebook. Most databases have been transferred to elabJournal and therefore it is used very much in the daily laboratory work.
Faculty of Medicine/University Medical Centre at RWTH Aachen, contact: Michael Kreisel (Research Data Management Advisor at the Faculty of Medicine), forschungsdekanat-elabjournal@ukaachen.de, description: As of December 2022, the instance includes about 200 users.
